ĭancing closed hold, is far more difficult ,than the open positions one sees, and probably why it's seldom taught ( same in Salsa ) The mixture of closed and open, is my dance preference, with a good balance between the 2Īs to changes in timing, I'm not opposed to that.( not for a beginner ), but only for good reasons. Look at some Son vids, and they even are danced in closed position, from a basic perspective. Point I'm also going to make here is that, a much closer dance position was always used., and the Backspot turn, was always danced without the cross ( that is a BR innovation which I do like ). There really was not the room ( part of the reason the closed style was invented ). ( I danced there for multi years 3 times a week and taught there.
